ABOUT US

Iranian Research Center for HIV/AIDS (IRCHA) is the first academic research center in the field of basic and community-oriented HIV/AIDS research in Iran. This center is affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences, has officially started its activity since 2005 and has received its final approval from the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education in May 2008.

Strengthening the research infrastructure in the Iranian Research Center for HIV/AIDS, focusing on HIV/AIDS research relying on prevention, epidemiological, cultural-social and psychological aspects of HIV/AIDS, behaviors among the sentinel population and the abuse of narcotic drugs. The goal of this center is to expand national, regional and international communication for scientific exchanges, interdisciplinary research and cooperation for national development programs.

HIV specialized clinic

The specialized HIV clinic, with experienced professors of infectious diseases and HIV fellowships, provides high-quality comprehensive outpatient care for people living with HIV. This care includes physical examinations, testing, medication administration including antiretroviral therapy, prevention and treatment of opportunistic infections, management of HIV-related conditions, immunizations and preventive services, and referral to other specialists if needed. Visiting days at the hospital clinic are from Saturday to Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and at Professor Yalda Clinic outside the complex on Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Tehran Positive Club

The Family Planning Association of Tehran has launched Yaran Positive Club for people living with HIV in 2004 with the support of Imam Khomeini Hospital Complex in Tehran and with the help of Iranian Research Center for HIV/AIDS (IRCHA). In this club, which is managed with the participation of positive people, in addition to educational and recreational activities, the general public who wish to consult can benefit from free counseling services. Face-to-face and telephone consultations are offered every day except holidays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

HIV Specialized laboratory

The specialized laboratory of the Iranian Research Center for HIV/AIDS (IRCHA) was established with two service and research approaches. Dedicated paraclinical services include diagnostic and confirmation tests for HIV infection, as well as CD4 cell counts, baroviral tests, and virus-contaminated sperm purification in people living with HIV/AIDS. In addition, the laboratory of the Iranian Research Center for HIV/AIDS (IRCHA) cooperates with the country's top universities in the training of graduate students.
